Mustangs Take Ontario Silver

infield
Western (24-1) came up short in the Provincial Championship game losing to McMaster by a score of 3-0.  The loss ended the Mustangs bid for the first ever undefeated season in Ontario University Softball history.  Western had battled McMaster three times earlier this season winning all three by scores of 1-0, 3-1, and 4-3 so the Championship matchup was destined to be another close contest.

McMaster scored one run in the first on two singles and picked up two more in the third following a walk, a single, a sac fly, and another single.  Western had base runners in the first, fourth, and seventh but did not score.  Tournament MVP, Shannon Galea held the Mustang offence to just 3 hits in the loss.  It is the fifth consecutive Provincial medal for   Western having won Gold in both 2006 and 2008, Silver in 2007, and Bronze in 2004 and 2005.
