LONDON, Ont. - German fencing star Felix Becker is on the campus of The Unviersity of Western Ontario, working with Western’s varsity fencing team.
A star sabre expert, Becker is from Germany and is a three-time Olympian in men’s sabre (1988, 1992 and 1996).
Becker was the men's sabre world champion in 1994 in Athens and the world vice-champion den haag in 1995.
He is a sabre lecturer at the German Academy of Fencing maitre d’armes (Fencing Masters) in Germany at the Akademie der Fechtkunst http://www.fechtkunst.org/zeitschrift.htm. Becker used to fence with the Eintracht Dortmund Fencing Club in Germany
The sessions will be offered Thursday Feb. 18 at Thames Hall, from 6-8 p.m., and Friday Feb. 19 from 8-10 a.m. at Alumni Hall.
Becker has been in London already once this year and also taught today and yesterday in London.
