Fencing Year In Review

LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs Fencing team had much success both at the OUA championships, as well as the Provincial Championships.

At the OUA championship the top eight fencers advance and Western had five of 12 men compete and seven of 12 women. Going into the championships, men's epee and sabre were ranked first in the West division. Women's epee and foil were ranked second, while sabre was ranked second as well.

 Western’s Andrea Csiba of London was a co-winner of the Dave O’Donnell Trophy, awarded to the female fencer(s) most proficient in skill, style and sportsmanship. She placed fifth in the epee. Western’s men as a team placed third in sabre and epee at the OUA Championships.

Mark Jones (London, Ont.) placed second overall in men’s epee.

At the Provincial championships, held in Kingston Ont. Salomeh Ahmadi (Etobicoke, Ont.) and Andrew Wang (Toronto, Ont.) both took home a silver medal.
