LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs baseball team, winners of four of the past five OUA championships, will hold their 2010 Fall Tryout Camp in August.

Recruits can tryout on Aug. 24-26, and Aug. 30-31 for the squad. Full details are available here. Pre-registration is required.

Here is the contents of the letter for recruits from head coach Mike Lumley:

Dear Recruit,

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 2010 Western Mustangs Baseball Fall Tryout Camp. The camp will take place August 24th, 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at Dan Pulham Memorial Field (Formerly L.D.B.A. Park) in London, Ont., at 815 Windermere Rd..

Mustangs Baseball has affirmed itself as the elite collegiate team in the province of Ontario: from 2005-2007 & 2009 we won the Ontario University Athletics Championships. One of the reasons for this success has been the program’s ability to attract highly skilled student-athletes who do not wish to sacrifice quality of education while continuing their athletic pursuits. Though some are willing to make such decisions by attending American institutions, Western’s high academic standards have made it the #1 choice for many of Canada’s top student-athletes.

All players will be evaluated for arm speed, running speed, hitting and defense. The schedule will be as follows.

Tuesday August 24th: Skill Evaluation Day

Wednesday August 25th: Purple and White Game

Thursday August 26th: Purple and White Game

Monday August 30th: Purple and White Game

Tuesday August 31st: Purple and White Game (Final Roster Selected)

Since the OUA schedule is short we will only be taking players that are in shape and are game ready so please come prepared! If you are going to be late for any reason please contact me via e-mail prior to the date as lateness will not be tolerated.
