LONDON, Ont. - Former Olympian and Western Mustangs head coach Ray Takahashi has used his international ties to bring in some of the world's best wrestlers to enrich the experience for Western student-athletes and those at the London-Western wrestling club.
Japanese wrestler Tomohiro Matsunaga, a silver medallist in 55 kg. freestyle two years ago at the Beijing Olympics, was in London for three days of training with his coach Yasumitsu Toba. He had been competing in Guelph at the Canada Cup.
Three Hawaiian recruits — Ryan Nakagawa, Kyle Hashiomoto and Danny Kim — also made the rounds with the club.
More news will follow from Western student-athlete involvement at international meets throughout the summer.
