TORONTO, Ont. -
Caleb Rutner (72 kg), rookie
Chris Nikolaou (57 kg), and
Michalia Walls (67 kg) led the Mustangs at the York Open, each taking bronze in their respective weight class.
Rutner's only loss of the tournament came courtesy of national team member and Brock wrestler Cruiz Manning. The two also met in the final of last week's Greater Toronto Open, with Manning ultimately taking the title.
First year wrestler Nicolaou's medal comes after the previous two tournaments saw him just miss out on a podium position in fourth place. Meanwhile, Walls continues to be the leading competitor for the women's team as she has finished as one of the top three wrestlers in every competition this season.
The Mustangs will be back in action this weekend, when they compete at the Ontario Senior Championships in St. Catharines.
