Rookie Impressions...

Blog #3 explores Western's rookies' impression of Western after the first few weeks.

I love the feeling that I got during my first few weeks here. I have experienced so many new things that you don't have the chance to experience in high school. The people, classes, campus, the amount of work... at first you are overwhelmed, but you eventually get the hang of it and feel even more excited to begin the next part of your life. Overall I loved how my first few weeks here at Western have gone.

I love it here. The atmosphere and people around me are great. There is never a dull moment.:) With school, basketball and training you just have to make sure to stay on top of things because it can get very busy. Looking forward to a big Thanksgiving weekend in Alberta, then getting right back at it the next couple of weeks before New Brunswick!!!!

Moving from high school into university was a big adjustment for me. My mom isn't here to make my lunch, do my laundry and make sure my homework is complete. After a week, the amount of reading I had to do seemed impossible but after a month of living here, I LOVE IT!
Sure, balancing basketball and school is hard, but there is the team and tons of people who want to help you. The amount of nice new people you meet is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome!

At first, life at Western was difficult to cope with because being independent and away from home was challenging and somewhat frightening. With class, basketball, work and meeting people, the experience was completely new and exciting to me. Although it was difficult to learn how to manage my time and balance my schedule, I have developed a routine and my friends, family and teammates have been very supportive. Overall, the experience at Western has been amazing and I wouldn't trade it for anything
