A Typical Game Day

GAME DAY - WESTERN vs OTTAWA

This blog shows just how the Mustangs spend their time on a typical game day. After a week of intensive practice, on Saturday the team goes through a number of steps before a 6:00 o'clock tip-off.

10:00 a.m. - Video session - This is a team meeting where the players view video of that night's opponent - offensive and defensive tendencies, which players in particular to watch and so on.

11:00 a.m. - The Walk-Through - Here the players go through a light shooting routine and then, once again, Coach Barrie "sets the stage" for that night's game, reviewing the lessons from that week's practices.

12:00- 4:30 - Downtime - Players have a few hours private time but most take advantage to devote a few hours to their demanding school responsibilities.

5:00 - Early Warmup -  The Mustangs are changed and go through a series of stretching exercises and individual drills to loosen up and mentally prepare for that night's contest.

5:30 - Chalk talk - This is their final preparation meeting where, again, Coach Barrie stresses all the steps required to achieve victory.

5:40 - Final Warmup - The team is focused and working hard here to come out strong and with the right mental attitude.

6:00 - Tipoff. - It's all on the line now and tonight, after a shaky start, the Mustangs dominate in the second half and win by over 20 points.

8:00 - Post-game - After a team "cooldown," the players come up to meet family and friends, and look forward to a day's rest before starting all over again the following week.
