Vaughan, a third-year Kinesiology student, had a strong weekend for Western's women's basketball team in a pair of games against Lakehead. On Saturday, Jan. 7, the 5-foot-9 guard nearly delivered a last-second win for the Mustangs, putting the team ahead by one with three seconds remaining. Unfortunately, the hometown Thunderwolves responded with a bucket of their own before time expired to prevent the upset. On the night, Vaughan went 6-for-14 from the field for 17 points and added seven rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
On Friday night, Jan. 6, Vaughan was once again the top scorer for the Mustangs, this time tallying 18 points (7-for-18 from the floor) in Western's first game of 2012. The Dundas, Ont. native also added six rebounds and three steals in the contest. Vaughan's average of 13 points per game through 10 contests is currently tops on the Mustangs and ranks her 13th in the OUA.
