Scholtes, a second-year Social Sciences student, carried the scoring load for the Mustangs in a loss to Lakehead on Saturday, Jan. 7. In the absence of senior Ryan Barbeau, Scholtes exploded for a game-high 35 points, accounting for more than half of Western's offense for the night. The 6-foot-5 forward went 13-for-23 from the field, including 5-for-6 from three-point range while also grabbing five rebounds.
In Western's first game against Lakehead on Friday night, Jan.6, Scholtes tallied 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting to go along with a pair of rebounds, three assists and a steal. Through 10 games this season, Scholtes is averaging 17.7 points per game, currently fourth-best in the OUA.
