Goaltender Olivia Ross, a second-year Kinesiology student, was tasked with playing back-to-back nights for the Western Mustangs in a big weekend, and she responded by holding the Queen’s Gaels to just one goal on Saturday night. The 2-1 Western win put the Mustangs into a tie for the final playoff spot. Ross (Huntsville, Ont.) stopped 33 of 34 shots against the Gaels, who entered the game with the third-most goals in the OUA. Queen’s went just 1-for-9 on the power play.
On Friday night, Ross made 29 stops in a 6-4 win over visiting UOIT. The Ridgebacks went 1-for-6 on the power play during Western’s win, which completed a four-point weekend at home.
