Abelev, a second-year Kinesiology student, won the Keegan Trophy as outstanding wrestler at the OUA championships on the weekend after helping the Mustangs men’s team to their first OUA title since 1994. Abelev won gold in the 68 kg weight class. The Ottawa, Ont. native now looks forward to the CIS Championships, which will take place at the Lakehead Thunderdome in two weeks (Feb. 24-25). Abelev came in at No. 2 in the 65 kg weight class in the last CIS wrestling rankings.
