Baker, a fourth-year King’s College student, was involved in both goals Friday night (Feb. 17), tallying a goal and an assist as the Western Mustangs men’s hockey team beat Laurier 2-1 to sweep their best-of-three first-round playoff series over the Golden Hawks. Baker’s goal tied the score at 1-1 just 16 seconds after the Hawks had taken a 1-0 lead in the third period. He later added an assist on Keaton Turkiewicz’s winner with less than two minutes remaining.
Baker also scored in Game 1 of the series on Thursday (Feb. 16), which the Mustangs won 4-2. With Western ahead by just one, 3-2, the forward added an insurance goal to send his team to the 4-2 win.
