Truelove, a Kinesiology masters student from Barrie, Ont., won gold at the McGill Open on Saturday, becoming only the third Western female in 21 years to win the event. She also set a new Western record at the Mount Royal 4km course, coming in at 14:09, beating the previous mark of 14:14 set in 2005 by All-Canadian Bethany Janzen.
“She is showing that’s she’s in great shape and injury-free. Amanda’s a talented runner, no doubt about that, she’s looking great and blended really well with our system. She’s been wonderful, a good leader for the team as well,” said head coach Bob Vigars.
