Farrugia, a first-year midfielder from Brampton, Ontario, scored four goals in Sunday’s 12-7 victory over the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA Championship Gold Medal Game. The Social Science student recorded seven goals and three assists for the tournament, helping the Mustangs capture their second consecutive OUA Championship. In addition to her stellar play on the weekend Farrugia led all rookies in scoring this year, often stepping up to score when Western needed a goal most.
“Michelle is a terrific sparkplug that brings passion and skill to the field. This weekend Michelle not only scored some great goals (while playing a little banged up) but did the other important things well too," said Western head coach Dave Hastings citing loose balls and draw controls.
