Truelove, a Kinesiology masters student from Barrie, Ontario, helped the Mustangs women’s cross country team to a bronze medal at the CIS Cross Country Championships on Saturday. She was named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian for her 11th place finish, improving her time on the same course from earlier this season at the Western International by 37 seconds and running the second fastest 5k race of her career.
“I am so happy for Amanda for her big run Saturday - coming up with her best race of the season and maybe the best cross country race of her career here on the big stage,” said head coach Bob Vigars. “She went in very confident and I could see by what she did and what she said on race day prior to the gun that she was ready to rumble. She was aggressive from the get-go and never backed down when the going gets tough, the legs burn, and the breathing is labored. Her attaining a low number (11) as our number one scorer helped a great deal in us getting the bronze.”
