Clarke, a third-year engineering student, is in his first year with the Mustangs after joining the team from the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. Clarke was key in last week’s 10-5 win over York, recording a hat trick and adding three assists in the victory. The London native enters the holiday break as the second leading scorer in all of CIS hockey with 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) only one point out of first.
 
"We expected Matt to come in and contribute this season but I think his production has exceeded our expectations so far,” said Western interim head coach Patrick Powers. “He is a tireless worker both on and off the ice and he is deserving to be 2nd in OUA and CIS scoring."
