Allowing just 12 goals in two games at OUA championships, goalkeeper Summer Windley, a first-team OUA all-star, led Western to its first OUA Championship, ending Laurier's six-year championship streak. With 17 saves in the 8-7 semifinal win over Queen's and 25 in the championship win over Wilfrid Laurier for 42 saves in two games. Strong team defence and Windley's great goalkeeping helped Western to win both games at the championship.
