Sophomore outside hitter Mathieu Poulin had a terrific weekend for the Western Mustangs, lifting them to their ninth and tenth straight wins against Ryerson Jan. 23 and York Jan. 24 at Alumni Hall.
In both wins - straight-set victories - Poulin provided momentum-changing kills and led the Mustangs with 26 points on the weekend.
He finished the weekend with an impressive .360% kill percentage, despite often facing double-blocking from his opposition.
Showing veteran presence with strong decision making at the net, Poulin used both power and soft touches to score against the Rams and Lions.
In the Jan. 23 win over Ryerson, Poulin finished with 14 points on 13 kills and one solo block.
The next day, Jan. 24, Poulin had 12 points, all on kills, to lead the Mustangs over York.
On the weekend, Poulin added two total blocks, 10 digs and 25 total kills.
He aspires to become a teacher after graduation, and currently sits in 12th place in the OUA in points per game (3.38) and ninth in the league in kills (141) and points (162.5).
