MALE: Keyvan Hunt, Men's Hockey (Goaltender, Second Year, King's College - Criminology, Coquitlam, B.C.)
Western netminder Keyvan Hunt (Coquitlam, B.C.) made 71 saves in two games to win his third straight lifting Western to a sweep over the Windsor Lancers in the OUA West Semifinal series.
On Feb. 24, Hunt stopped 34 shots to lift Western to a 5-2 win over the Lancers at Thompson Arena, but saved his week's best performance for a 37-save effort in the 3-1 win over Windsor on Feb. 26 at Windsor Arena.
The Mustangs blanked the Lancers on five powerplay opportunities in the third and deciding game, holding the Lancers lethal powerpaly to 1/13 in the series.
Hunt was spectacular in the third period on Feb. 26, bailing out his teammates with several back-to-back save sequences to help Western hold on for victory. He was also run several times in the game and managed to fight off the physical play to stay composed.
This is Hunt's second straight OUA athlete of the week nomination, he has been playing extremely well over the past three weeks and now leads his team into Thunder Bay for Game 1 of the best-of-three OUA West Final series.
