MALE - Andrew Murdoch, Men's Soccer (Goalkeeper / Burlington, Ont. / Social Sciences / Fourth Year)
With a perfect 4-0 record to open the season, Western Mustangs senior goalkeeper Andrew Murdoch has been outstanding.
This past week, he made 11 saves in two wins against two strong offensive-minded teams.
This season, he has allowed just a pair of goals in four games, and he leads the OUA with three shutouts and has a 0.50 GAA along with a 4-0-0 record to lead the Mustangs in the OUA West.
Murdoch was stellar in goal for the Mustangs to earn the clean-sheet shutout, his third of the season, in Wednesday Sept. 8's 1-0 win over rivals York.
He finished the game with six saves to give Western the win, including one stop where he made a diving highlight-reel save in the 49th minute on a ball destined for the top corner of the net.
Murdoch played well again in Sunday Sept. 12's 3-2 win over a desparate Brock squad, making several big saves late in the game. The graduate of Burlington Notre Dame high school finished the game with five saves.
The Week 1 GoodLife Fitness Western Mustangs Athlete of the Week was Eric Amato from men's soccer.
