With a strong showing at the 2010 University Challenge held at the University of Toronto, Hayley Nell led the Western Mustangs to a third-place overall team finish with four silver medals in all four events over the Thursday event, standing out as the top OUA female at the multi-conference event.

Nell had a CIS standard 26.19 second finish for second place in the women's 50-metre freestyle final, and set another CIS standard with a 57.54 second performance in the women's 100-metre freestyle also finishing in second spot.

The star swimmer added two more silvers in the women's 200-metre freestyle relay as the lead-off swimmer as the team finished at 1:46.78, and she also ran the anchor of the women's 200-metre medley relay for second spot at 1:56.66.
