OUA tournament all-star Jason Carter led the Western Mustangs with 16 goals as the previously struggling team emerged at the right time, advancing to its first OUA championship game since 2002.

Western, which went 0-2 in the round-robin, won the quarter-final and semifinal thanks in large part to nine goals over two games from Carter.

The former varsity rower with Western added four goals in the 17-11 loss in the championship game against Toronto.
