Entering his seventh season as the head coach of the women's lacrosse team at Western, Dave Hastings has had a lot of success in his past seven seasons coaching the team. In 2014, Hastings guided the Mustangs to their 7th straight winning season and a fourth consecutive perfect 12-0 season and OUA Championship.  This year the Mustangs have claimed their fifth OUA Championship in six years. Over his tenure Western women's lacrosse has a record of 70-10-1 (0.870 winning percentage) with 5 gold and 1 silver medal. Over the course of the last 4 years the Mustangs have strung together a record 56 straight wins in OUA play.

Hastings is a graduate of Western with over 30 years of lacrosse experience as both player and coach. In the past 6 years he has twice been honoured by the OUA as coach of the year (2008, 2013). Hastings holds a Ph.D. from Western in Organic Chemistry (1991) and is a former head coach and assistant coach with Western men's field lacrosse club team (1991-1992 and 1990 respectively).

Hastings also played for Western from 1986-1990, serving as a team captain, winning an Ontario championship in 1988, provincial silver medals in 1989 and 1990, and all-Ontario honours in 1988 and 1989.

Hastings has also coached in the London Jr. Stangs field lacrosse program and has also spent time coaching in Brockville and in the U.S. with the Canton, N.Y., field lacrosse program. He also coaches boy's rep lacrosse teams from Ontario which compete in U.S. tournaments.

Hastings, a hockey coach as well, holds his NCCP Level 2 certifications in box lacrosse, field lacrosse (men's and women's) and ice hockey. He is an active member in the lacrosse community and resides in London with his wife Kim and sons Derrick, Tyler and Carter.
