WATERLOO, Ont. – Defenceman Geoff Killing (Embro, Ont.) claimed the only goal for the Western Mustangs in a 4-1 loss in their first regular season game at the Columbia Ice Fields on Oct. 9.

Western produced 47 shots compared to Waterloo’s 28, but could not capitalize on the opportunities and remained three goals short at the final whistle. Keyvan Hunt (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) made 24 saves.

Penalties were distributed evenly to both teams throughout the game. Waterloo obtained eight infractions, however the Mustangs went 0/6 on the powerplay. Conversely, Western received seven infractions and the Warriors went 1/5 on their powerplay chances.

The Mustangs play host to the Brock Badgers for Western’s home opener on Oct. 10 at Thompson Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
