Hoegy tallies three goals but comeback falls short in season opener

Oct. 21: McMaster 13 Western 7

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs fell 13-7 to the McMaster Marauders on Oct. 21 in the season opener for both teams. 

Western (0-1) trailed 7-0 but pushed back to make it 9-6. Unfortunately for Western, the Marauders exploded again to go on a 4-1 run to close out the game and end the Mustangs comeback bid.

Gregory Hoegy (Kitchener, ON) led Western with a hattrick, while Matthew Abraham (Port of Spain) added a pair of goals. Rami Helali (Waterloo, ON) scored once for the Mustangs.

Western travels to Kingston, Ont., Oct. 24-25 to play Queen's, York and Carleton.

The Mustangs return home Nov. 1 for two games at the Canada Aquatic Centre at 10 a.m. vs. Toronto and 5 p.m. vs the York Lions, before a rematch with McMaster Nov. 4 also at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre at 5:45 p.m.

The OUA championships run Nov. 28-29 in Hamilton, Ont., hosted by McMaster.
