Lamb contributes 2 goals in 10-4 defeat over Concordia

LONDON, Ont. – Assistant captain Kyle Lamb (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) notched two goals as the Mustangs defeated the Concordia Stingers 10-4 on Nov. 14 at Thompson Arena for their second win this weekend.

Remaining Western goals were scored by Yashar Farmanara (West Vancouver, B.C.), Geoff Killing (Embro, Ont.), Jason Furlong (London, Ont.), Kevin Baker (Georgetown, Ont.), Keaton Turkiewicz (Brantford, Ont.), Brock Turner (Brandon, M.B.), Patrick Ouellet (Baie-Comeau, Q.B.), and Aaron Snow (Windsor, Ont.). Stinger goals were claimed by Marc- Andre Rizk (Montreal, Q.B.), Nicolas Sciangula (Montreal, Q.B.), Renaud Des Alliers (Sorel-Tracy, Q.B.), and Matthew David (Montreal, Q.B.).

Concordia went up first on the scoreboard after Rizk saw the puck sitting on Western’s goal line and managed to push the puck past goaltender Keyvan Hunt (Port Coquitlam, B.C.).

Approaching the end of the first frame, Farmanara streaked down the right wing and wired a shot over the goalie’s shoulder to tie the game at one.

Midway through the second period, Hunt lost his blocker during a scramble and Sciangula planted the puck in the Mustangs net, taking a 2-1 lead. Western answered 20 seconds after Concordia’s goal when Killing moved in from the point and jumped on a rebound, releasing a shot past Stinger goaltender Brock McGillis (Sudbury, Ont.).

Western capitalized on another offensive opportunity within one minute of their second goal after Turziewicz made a pass to the far post where Furlong was waiting to redirect the puck into the net, increasing the Mustangs lead to 3-2.

Lamb secured one more goal before the end of the second frame after taking a pass from Farmanara and putting the puck on net. McGillis made the original save, however Lamb grabbed his own rebound and found open net.

The Mustangs received 11 infractions while Concordia received 13. Western went 3/8 on the powerplay while limiting the Stingers to 0/6 opportunities.

Western scored six additional goals in the third period, while Concordia scored two resulting in a 10-4 final count.

Western (9-2-0) earned four points this weekend and will travel to Ottawa on Nov. 20 for a 7:00 p.m. game with the chance to continue on a ten game winning streak.
