Seedhouse solid in weekend split, Western has won four of last five

ST. CATHARINES and GUELPH, Ont. - Sophomore forward Ellie Seedhouse (Whitby, Ont.) scored the game-winning goal in Western's 2-0 win over Brock on Nov. 15, a day after scoring and adding an assist in a 4-2 loss against a strong Guelph Gryphons team.

Western's record is now 4-5-1 for 5th place in the OUA with Toronto (which has two games in hand) and the Mustangs have won four of their last five games.

Seedhouse scored midway through the first period on a pass from Katie Dillon (Oshawa, Ont.) and Lindsay Gidomski (Mississauga, Ont.) scored an empty-netter to ice the victory, while Lindsey Martin(London, Ont.) make 16 saves for the shutout victory.

Her play helped Western to shut Brock out on the powerplay, as the Badgers went 0/7.

Guelph led 2-0 after the first period before Seedhouse and Chantal Morais (Guelph, Ont.) teamed up to score and set each other up to tie the game at 2-2.

Tayne Hewer scored the game-winning goal late in the second and Dayna Kanis added the insurance marker in the third period to give Guelph the win.  

Jessica Ulrich (Keswick, Ont.) made 25 saves in the loss.

Seedhouse is currently fourth in the OUA in scoring with eight goals in 10 games.

Western hosts UOIT on Saturday Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. and Queen's on Sunday Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Arena.
