LONDON Ont.- The Western Mustangs men's hockey team are on a revenge mission this weekend, playing two of the three teams they have lost to this season.
Friday Jan. 22 the Mustangs make the trip to take on the Brock Badgers at the Seymour-Hannah Centre at 7:30 p.m.
Back in early October the Mustangs fell 5-3 to the Badgers at Thompson Arena, where the team mounted a late comeback but it was too little too late.
Since that time though, it's been a very different Mustangs hockey team, winning 16 straight regular season games, and going 17-1 in their last 18. Much of the reason for the Mustangs success thus far this season is due to the high flying offence coming from Keaton Turkiewicz (Brantford Ont.) and Aaron Snow (Windsor, Ont) who each have 35 points on the season, tied for second place in the OUA.
The other game this weekend for the Western Mustangs will be against the UOIT Ridgebacks at the third annual Jack Frost cup, hosted at the John Labatt Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 23.
The Ridgebacks upset the Mustangs 6-4 in their last meeting on Jan. 16 to snap the Mustangs then 16 game winning streak.
The loss to the Ridgeback showed that anyone can win on any given night in the OUA, and the Mustangs will be out for revenge against both the UOIT Ridgebacks and Brock Badgers as they get set for another weekend of back-to-back games.
