LONDON, Ont. – Following a 4-1 victory over the York Lions last weekend, the Western Mustangs hope to improve their 2-3 record when they face the Waterloo Warriors at Thompson Arena on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
Waterloo has played one more game than Western has, and at 0-6 they are desperate for their first win of the season. So far they have 17 goals against and have only scored five.
Waterloo’s Jessica Tracey (Woodslee, Ont.) scored two goals, Caitlin Brydges (Ariss, Ont.) scored one goal and assisted two, Emma McMillan (Hastings, Ont.) scored one and also assisted two, and Ona Mezenberg has scored one.
Mustang’s rookies are stepping up this season. Michelle Saunders (Oakville, Ont.) leads the team in points with four goals and two assists – and has also been dominating on the powerplay. Marianne Filson (Denfield, Ont.) has scored two goals and assisted two.
Despite Waterloo’s record, Western needs to come ready to play three periods of hockey on Saturday and cannot take Waterloo lightly.
