Nationally-ranked Mustangs to host Gryphons

Nov. 12: Guelph at Western, 7:30 p.m. Thompson Arena

LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs face the Guelph Gryphons Friday night at Thompson Arena with a 7:30 p.m. start-time.

Ranked first in the OUA West and No. 4 in the CIS, the Mustangs are 8-0-1 in regular season play.

Hot goaltending from both Anthony Grieco and Josh Unice and solid defence has resulted in only 18 goals against in eight games, while Westerm's spectacular offence has notched 45 goals this season.

Third-year forward Aaron Snow leads the team in overall points with the trio of veterans Keaton Turkiewicz, Kevin Baker and captain Kyle Lamb trailing with 12, 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Mustangs, fresh off a 5-3 victory over the middle-of-the-pack Waterloo Warriors show no signs of slowing down as they head to Toronto to face York on Nov. 11. The York Lions will certainly be looking for redemption for the 5-0 loss the Mustangs handed to them in October.

Solid defence and plentiful scoring opportunities will be what the Mustangs look for Friday night in their home-ice advantage match against Guelph. The Gryphons are coming off three consecutive wins, including back-to-back wins against the Windsor Lancers.

Tickets for Friday’s game can be ordered by phone 519-661-3090, online here or purchased at the door. Prices are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, youth and non-Western students. Western students are free with their student card.
