LONDON, Ont. - Matt Poulin had 16 points, on 11 kills and four aces along with 1.5 blocks as the Western Mustangs, ranked No. 6 in the CIS, toyed with the Toronto Varsity Blues in a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-15) at Alumni Hall Saturday.
Alan Screaton added nine points on eight kills and an ace, while
Phil James,
Garrett May and Matt Waite added eight points each for Western.
Western was very effective with a 23.5 kill percentage, led by Poulin at 45%.
Jake Dysselhof was the top Toronto player with seven kills and eight points. The Blues, however, committed 23 errors attacking along with four service errors in the match.
The Mustangs (6-0) travel to Laurier on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. and Waterloo on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. for two road contests, their first two of an eight-game road swing which does not see them return back to Alumni Hall until Jan. 21 and 22 against RMC and Queen's.
