Looking to maintain streak, Mustangs host Toronto and Ryerson

Nov. 19: Toronto at Western, 7:30 p.m. / Nov. 20: Ryerson at Western 7:30 p.m (Thompson Arena)

LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs will face the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday Nov. 19, and the Ryerson Rams on Saturday Nov. 20 at Thompson Arena with both games starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Mustangs, ranked No. 4 in the CIS, currently have a 10-0-1 record in regular season play with 21 points overall.

With strong goaltending from Anthony Grieco and Josh Unice, along with very solid defensive play, Western hasn’t been letting in many goals this season. The powerful offence has also been on a scoring streak.

Last game, the Mustangs beat the Guelph Gryphons, 5-4.

Veterans Aaron Snowand Keaton Turkiewicz are leading Western in overall points. Snow has 19 points overall with 9 goals and 10 assists, and Turkiewicz has 15 points overall with 9 goals and 6 assists.

Toronto’s Byron Elliot and Robert Kay lead in overall points for the Blues. Elliot has 5 points overall (in 4 games) with 2 goals and 3 assists. Kay also has 5 points overall with 3 goals and 2 assists.

Matt Schmermund and Cory Konecny lead in points for the Ryerson Rams. Schmermund has 10 points overall with 4 goals and 6 assists, and Konecny has 9 points overall with 3 goals and 6 assists.

In eighth and ninth place in the OUA East division, both teams will be hungry for a win and will have to battle hard against the Mustangs for a chance.
