Barbeau-less Mustangs fall to top-ranked Ravens 91-66

Nov. 19: Carleton 91 Western 66

LONDON, Ont. - Without starting point guard Ryan Barbeau, the Western Mustangs did not have the firepower to keep up with the Carleton Ravens losing 91-66 on Friday night at Alumni Hall.

Western is now 2-3 on the season and host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 7 p.m. Saturday night. There will be a tribute to former coach Doug Hayes just before tip-off at Alumni Hall.

Western held tough with the Ravens in the first quarter trading baskets throughout in a gritty defensive battle. Carleton held a slim 15-13 lead after one quarter.

With Western in a zone, Carleton was forced to shoot from the outside and were making their contested jumpers from outside. With the Western bigs in foul trouble, the Mustangs could not get into an offensive rhythm and were outscored 28-9 in the quarter. At the half the Ravens had extended their lead to 41-24.

Western would be unable to shut down the three-point shooting of the the Ravens in the second half. The Ravens were 15 of 41 from downtown for the game. Western would finally hit a three in the third quarter after going 0 for 9 in the first, but it was Carleton up big after three quarters 69-46.
