Poulin powers Mustangs to pair of victories

The No. 6 nationally ranked Western Mustangs men's volleyball team continued their excellent play to begin the year as they went on the road to beat the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Waterloo Warriors.

After dropping the first set 25-23 on Friday night at Laurier, the Mustangs responded winning the next three 25-8, 25-16 and 29-27.

Matt Waite had 13 kills and three aces for the Mustangs, while Mathieu Poulin had 15 kills with eight digs.

It was more of the same in Waterloo on Saturday evening as the Mustangs dropped the first set 25-23 before coming back to win 3-1 by set scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-17.
Poulin had 15 kills with two aces and two solo blocks for the Mustangs while rookie Garrett May had 15 kills as well.

The Mustangs sit atop the OUA as the lone undefeated team at 8-0 as Queen's fell to McMaster this weekend.

Western will play at Queen's on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. and at RMC at 2 p.m. on Nov. 28. Both games are in Kingston, Ont.
