Looking for a win, Mustangs host Laurier and Waterloo

Nov. 27: Laurier at Western, 4:00 p.m/ Nov. 28: Waterloo at Western, 2:00 p.m (Thompson Arena)

LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs (3-9) will face the Laurier Golden Hawks, and the Waterloo Warriors this Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Thompson Arena.

Western is currently is ninth place with six points overall. On Saturday they will be facing the top team in the league – Laurier, who have a 12-1 record and 24 points overall.

Left-winger Katherine Shirriff (Carrying Place, Ont.) leads Laurier in points with 14 overall from four goals and ten assists. Laura Brooker (Fergus, Ont.), also a left-winger, has 13 points so far this season. She has scored ten goals and assisted three.

When the Mustangs played Laurier at the end of October they lost 3-1, and will be coming out hard looking for a win this time.

Last time Western played Waterloo (2-10) they won 6-5 in an exciting and close game.

Waterloo’s three players to look out for are: Caitlin Brydges (Ariss, Ont.), Nicole Hebert (Toronto, Ont.), and Jessica Tracey (Woodslee, Ont.) Brydges has nine points overall with two goals and seven assists, Hebert has seven points overall with five goals and two assists, and Tracey also has seven points overall with three goals and five assists.

For Western, Marianne Filson, (Denby, Ont.) Ellie Seedhouse, (Whitby, Ont.) and Michelle Saunders (Oakville, Ont.) are leading in points. Filson has nine points overall with three goals and six assists, Seedhouse has eight points overall with five goals and three assists, and Saunders has seven points overall – five goals and two assists.

The action will begin on Saturday Nov. 27 at 4:00 p.m against Laurier, at Thompson Arena.
