KINGSTON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men's water polo team is shocking the competition, qualifying for the championship game at the 2010 OUA men's water polo championship in Kingston, Ont.
Western upset Carleton in the first semifinal Sunday morning 11-10 to advance to the final against Toronto which defeated McMaster 15-5 in the other semifinal.

In the semifinal win, avenging a round-robin loss to the Ravens, Daniel Abraham and Greg Hoegy scored three goals each. Hoegy tied the game with 5:40 left and then scored the game winner with just over three minutes remaining in the game
Jason Carter of Vancouver, B.C., who leads the Mustangs in scoring with 12 goals, scored twice.
The Mustangs showed improvement throughout the weekend with Western defeating the host Queen's Gaels 15-8 in a Saturday night quarter-final. Carter proved to be too much as he found the back of the net seven times to pace the Mustangs to victory.
McMaster defeated York 12-6 in the other quarter-final with the first-place teams from each group, Carleton and Toronto, earning byes to the semifinals.
Western lost to Carleton and McMaster in round-robin play but is undefeated in the playoffs for an overall 2-2 record.
Earlier in the day Saturday, in the final game of round-robin play, the Mustangs hung tough with the Ravens, but Carleton held them off for a 13-10 win to clinch top spot.
Carter of Vancouver, B.C., and London, Ont., native Yevgen Demidenok of London, Ont., each had three for Western.
On the opening day against McMaster, Western fell 13-8 to the Marauders.
