Mustangs water polo battle with Marauders but come up short

Nov. 4: McMaster 13 Western 11

LONDON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men's water polo team battled the McMaster Marauders in an exhibition match at the Western Student Recreation Centre in London, Ont., and tried to overcome a fourth period deficit but fell 13-11 to the Marauders.

Western held tough with McMaster and were tied at half 4-4. The Marauders would shut down the Western offence in the third period and take an 8-5 lead into the final frame.

Behind a crowd of close to one hundred supporters the Mustangs would come out strong in the fourth period.

Scoring two quick goals in two minutes after a couple of stellar saves by goalie Blake Moore, of Orillia, Ont. Western refused to go away and would tie the score at 10 apiece with three minutes remaining.
Down 12-11 and pushing for the equalizer in the final minute the Mustangs would miss their shot to tie the game.

Western was forced to try to double team to force a turnover but McMaster evaded Western's defence and get an easy two on one breakaway goal with seconds remaining.
