Mustangs ready to Jam the Gym

LONDON, Ont. - The Mustangs men's basketball team kicks off it's final home stand of the regular season this Saturday at 3 p.m. against Guelph. The crowd will be raucous as students and fans try to "Jam the Gym" to support their Mustangs.

The Mustangs realize the importance of this game as they sit at 9-8 on the season, good for fourth place in the OUA West and two games behind the McMaster Marauders. Western has five games remaining, including this one, and want to get hot heading into the playoffs. By holding on to the fourth spot or moving up in the standings, the Mustangs will secure the all important home game in the first round of playoffs.

The Guelph Gryphons aim to play the spoiler this weekend as they sit at 5-12 on the year at the bottom of the OUA West. They have played their competition hard throughout the year, however, and this game is by no means a pushover.

Following the tough road loss to the Brock Badgers on Feb. 3, look for the Mustangs to try to work the ball down in the post to Andrew Wedemire (Sarnia, Ont.). He, as well as Ryan Barbeau (Belleville, ON)played well in that game, combining for 33 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists.

Game time on Saturday is set for 3 p.m. following the women's game at 1 p.m. As we try to Jam the Gym, those fans dressed in their Western purple will get in free of charge. Come out and support the Mustangs road to the playoffs.
