LONDON, Ont. - Last weekend, the Western men’s volleyball team had its 11-game win streak killed by the Guelph Gryphons, and the salt on the wound was a devastating injury to captain and former All-Canadian Eric Simon.
This coming weekend, the Mustangs will play two games against Queen's on Friday Feb. 5 and RMC on Feb. 6. Queen’s is currently sitting third in the OUA and have the number one player.
“Queen’s will be a very challenging match,” said Western Mustangs men's volleyball head coach Jim Sage. “They are a key rival and always [provide] entertaining games.”
Unfortunately, Simon (London, Ont.) was injured last weekend in the game against Guelph.
“Eric has a third-degree sprain and looks like he will be lost for the season,” said Sage. “A leader, captain and possible the best left side in the OUA, he will be hard to replace.”
“But injuries happen and everyone will have to step up for our success to continue.”
