LONDON, Ont. - The No. 5 Western Mustangs are facing their first bit of adversity of the 2010-11 season. They are coming off their first regulation loss of the season, 2-1 to Laurier on Jan. 8, and with a weekend doubleheader against No. 8 Lakehead risk losing sole possession of first place.
The Mustangs are 14-1-3 on the season, just four points ahead of second place Lakehead. The Thunderwolves are nipping at their heels with a 13-4-1 record and have won their past nine games.
Western will host Lakehead at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson Arena on both Friday and Saturday night. The Saturday night game is the annual Jack Frost Cup game.
Keaton Turkiewicz leads the Mustangs with 11 goals on the season to go with 12 assists. Kevin Baker leads in assists with 15 on the year as well as netting nine goals.
Anthony Greico and Josh Unice have been solid splitting the goaltending duties for the Mustangs this year. Both are in the top five in goals against, averaging under 2.5 per game. Greico ranks third in the OUA with an outstanding 0.925 save percentage.
