Waite keeps Mustangs undefeated with 3-1 win at Guelph

Jan. 14: Western 3 Guelph 1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 27-25)

GUELPH, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men's volleyball team remained undefeated winning on the road 3-1 against the Guelph Gryphons on Friday, Jan. 14.

The Mustangs dropped a close first set 25-23. They then battled with Guelph throughout to take the next three sets in close fashion, winning 25-21, 25-22 and 27-25.

Mathew Waite dominated in the victory with 19 kills and two solo blocks. Rookie Garret May added 14 kills and six digs with Mathieu Poulin getting 13 kills and seven digs.

Western is now 13-0 on the season in first place in the OUA with a comfortable two game lead.

The Mustangs head to Hamilton to face 10-3 McMaster, the next closest team in the standings. The game will get underway at 8 p.m.
