McMaster hands Mustangs first loss of the season 3-1

Jan. 15: McMaster 3 Western 1 (25-20, 18-25, 18-25, 18-25)

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Western Mustangs suffered their first defeat of the season losing 3-1 against the McMaster Marauders on Saturday night in Hamilton, Ont.

The Mustangs are now 13-1 on the season, still in first place in the OUA with second place McMaster at 11-3 narrowing the gap in the standings.

Reid Halpenny had 10 kills and five digs for the Mustangs. Matt Waite added eight kills to go with two solo blocks, three assisted blocks and three digs.

Western started out strong, winning the first set 25-20. McMaster played well in shutting down the Western attack as they won the next three sets all by scores of 25-18.

The Mustangs look to start a new winning streak as they return home to face RMC at Alumni Hall on Jan. 21 at 8 p.m
