OTTAWA, Ont. – With a 13-4 loss to the McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon, the Western Mustangs men’s water polo team got an early exit from the 2011 OUA Championships, bowing out after just three games.
The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead Saturday, as
Daniel Abraham (Port of Spain) scored a pair of goals in the first period to give Western a 2-1 advantage after one. The Marauders responded with four goals in the second, however, and took a 5-3 lead after two periods of play.
It was all McMaster from that point on, as the Marauders outscored the Mustangs 8-1 over the final two periods to win and advance to a quarterfinal matchup. The Mustangs, with an 0-3 record, were eliminated from the tournament.
Graham Park and Jack Park both had a team-high three goals for McMaster, while Nicholas Jeffrey and Jiaqiao Tang had two goals apiece.
Abraham led the Mustangs with three of their four goals Saturday, while
Matthew Abraham (Port of Spain) notched the other score.
