Short-handed Mustangs look for a pair of wins this weekend

Feb. 4: Windsor vs. Western, 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 5: UOIT vs. Western, 7:30 p.m.

LONDON, Ont. - The CIS No. 3 ranked Mustangs men's hockey team has shown no signs of being short-handed with six of their players in Turkey playing at the Winter Universiade.

Coming off two strong road wins over UOIT and Windsor, the Mustangs will get to return to Thompson Arena this weekend for rematches. Western will take on Windsor on Friday, Feb. 4 and UOIT on Feb. 5. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Mustangs exploded for seven goals in the 7-3 win against UOIT last weekend as six different Mustangs scored. They won 3-1 on the road in Windsor behind three power-play goals.

Western is sitting comfortably in first place with a nine-point lead over Laurier with a 19-1-4 record. Windsor (11-11-3) and UOIT (10-11-4) sit in seventh and eighth respectively but only six points separate them from third place Lakehead.

The Mustangs have two games remaining to the regular season as they head on the road to face Brock next weekend and will be home to Guelph on Feb. 12 at 7:30 for their regular season finale.
