Weekend Preview: Men's hockey back on home ice

The Mustangs kick off their Saturday night on November 17 at home in London against conference foe the Brock Badgers at Thompson Arena. The `Stangs have won their last two at home over OUA east opponents and look to stop a Badger squad looking to get back in the middle of the pack in the OUA. Brock is looking to bounce back after a loss that snapped some of the momentum they have built after getting off to a slow start in the 2012-2013 season.

Kaine Geldhart and Thomas Stajan are frontrunners of the feisty Badger scoreboard with 13 points apiece so far. In the back end, goaltending duties have been shared between Dalton McGrath and Kody Blios who have both proved to be assets in giving their team a chance to win night in and night out. Whoever starts on Saturday will need a strong performance to limit the scoring of Zach Harnden, the Mustangs front line, and company.

Western currently sits fourth in the OUA West but are only two points behind division leader Windsor. The retooled Mustangs squad is balanced offensively with contributions coming from multiple players including Matt Marantz and Kyle DeCoste who each have chipped in with eight points. Unice -- one of the veteran leaders on the team -- has been more than stout with a  .927 save percentage and will need to put up more of the same numbers against a Brock team fighting to get out of the division basement.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm. The game will be live streamed on MustangsTV and can be seen at www.westernmustangs.ca
