The Mustangs women’s hockey team prepares for a weekend homestand taking on the Ryerson Rams and the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Mustangs are currently ranked ninth in the country following a tough 3-2 loss to the fourth ranked Laurier Golden Hawks last weekend. Look for the Stangs to be out for vengeance and to get back in the win column at home this weekend.
The young Mustangs team are led offensively by forward
Stacey Scott and defender
Katelyn Gosling. Scott, the sophomore forward from London, leads the Mustangs with 12 goals on the season which ties her for ninth in the CIS. Scott also leads the mustangs with 21 points overall this season (12 goals, 9 assists). Another London native, Gosling, is a major contributor to the offence from her spot on the point. This season the sophomore Gosling has three goals and 17 assists for a total of 20 points. Her 17 assists are tied for sixth among all skaters in the CIS.
In net the Mustangs count on sophomore
Kelly Campbell who is among the country’s best goaltenders this season. Campbell leads the nation with 557 saves and her save percentage of .942 is also worthy of third place in the CIS. Expect the Mustangs to come out playing fast and hard as they look to add two more wins this weekend to their 14-6 record.
Mustangs vs. Ryerson Rams
First up for the Mustangs at Thompson Arena this weekend are the 2-18 Ryerson Rams, who will be looking to rebound after a 3-1 home loss last Saturday at the hands of the Mustangs. In last Saturday’s meeting Rams goalie and London native Dana Carson backstopped her team and made 23 saves on 26 shots in a losing effort. Look for the Rams to be on the attack as they look add another home loss to the Mustangs record.
Sophomore forward Melissa Wronzberg leads the Rams with 9 points this season (3 goals, 6 assists), after adding an assist on the Rams lone goal in the third period last Saturday. Now that these two teams have had a chance to become familiar with each other, look for both teams to try and get out to a quick start and get the upper hand early in the game.

Mustangs vs. the University of Toronto Varsity Blues
In the second game of this weekend’s two game homestand the Mustangs take on the 12-9 Varsity Blues. The Blues are coming into this weekend’s action on a three-game winning streak. The last time these two teams met the Blues got the best of the Stangs pulling out the 3-2 overtime win back in October.
The Blues are led offensively by senior forward Kelly O’Hanlon who leads all Blues skaters with 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points this season. While O’Hanlon leads the Blues, the team also has well rounded scoring with six other Blues skaters who have double digit point totals this season. In the last contest Blues sophomore forward Jacqueline Scheffel had two points including an assist on the overtime goal scored by Callie Bazak. Expect a tough game for the Mustangs as they look to even the season series out against the Blues.
