Weekend Preview: Mustangs head to Toronto to face Rams and Varsity Blues

Women's Basketball: Weekend Preview

The Mustangs continue their OUA regular season in Toronto this weekend after posting two wins against the York Lions and the Queen's Gaels last weekend to boost their record to 3-1 and sit in a tie for first in the OUA West division. So far this season the Mustangs are shooting 41.5% from behind the three-point line and have displayed strong rebounding this season, giving the Mustangs a solid offensive game. The squad will be looking for two wins on the road this weekend to keep climbing in the OUA standings.

Leading the Mustangs this season is guard Jenny Vaughan with 21.2 points per game to take the top spot on the OUA women's basketball leaderboard for scoring. Vaughan recorded 39 points over last week's two-game weekend.

The Varsity Blues are currently 0-3 in regulation play with their losses coming from McMaster, Brock, and Laurier. The Varsity Blues have averaged 41.7 points per game with 24 turnovers per game which gives the Mustangs defence an area to expose. The Toronto squad will be on the hunt for their first win of the regular season as they prepare for Friday's matchup.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the University of Toronto.


Western vs. Ryerson - Saturday, November 16 at 6:00 PM

The Ryerson Rams are currently split 2-2 in the regular season with both wins captured at home and will be looking to keep their home-game streak alive in Saturday's matchup. Fourth-year forward Keneca Pingue-Giles leads the Rams offence with 10 points per game and a 39% field goal percentage. Liane Bailey has averaged 9.3 points per game for the Rams while Jill Stratton is close behind with 9.0 points per game.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at Ryerson University.
