Box Score TORONTO -- The Western Mustangs men's basketball team will add another loss to their record after being defeated by the Ryerson Rams, 91-65, Saturday evening at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in their sixth OUA 2013-2014 regular season game.
The Mustangs shot 25.9% in the paint for the first half, while shooting 9.1% from beyond the arc making only one out of 11 three-pointers. Senior forward
Peter Scholtes led the Mustangs in scoring with 10 points. Rookie guard
Rashayne Case added another five points to the scoreboard. Ryerson shot an impressive 54.8% in the paint alongside eight three-pointers to end the half in the lead with a score of 52-22.
The Mustangs came into the second half confident accumulating seven three-pointers and shooting 36.1% in the paint while the defense proved to be present causing 10 turnovers for the Rams.
Greg Morrow led the Mustangs with 11 points, three rebounds, and an additional two assists to the score sheet, followed by
Eric McDonald, and Case who added eight points apiece. The Rams quickly adjusted to Western's defensive strategy, but the Mustangs were outscored by the end of the half 44 to 39.
The game resulted in a 91-65 loss for Western putting their record at 0-6 in the OUA regular season.
With tonight's loss, the Mustangs now sit tied for last place in the OUA regular season alongside Guelph.
The Mustangs will take a break until Friday, Nov. 22, when they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs with an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
