Box Score OTTAWA, Ont. - The Western Mustangs men's basketball team faced defending provincial champions the Carleton Ravens in a 117-42 defeat on Saturday evening at the Raven's Nest in the team's second OUA game after falling to the Ottawa Gee-Gees last night in their season-opener.
In the first half the Mustangs came out with a strong press but were not able to stop the fast break of the Ravens. Western forward
Peter Scholtes contributed seven points and two rebounds while
Eric McDonald put up another six points for the Mustangs in the half. The Ravens were able to create the majority of their opportunities from beyond the arc as they scored ten three-pointers to take an early lead. The end of the first half saw the Mustangs at 21 points while Carleton recorded 57.
In the second half McDonald contributed another five points with
Greg Morrow joining the game and adding another four. The end of the second half saw 60 points for the Ravens and 21 for the Mustangs with a match result of 117-42 in favor of Carleton.
The Mustangs take a few nights off before they return home to match up with the Queen's Gaels at Alumni Hall on November 8 with game time set for 8:00 p.m. Â Â
